Great comments on EE. I’m convinced. The versatility angle seems a huge upside. Also, should injuries require a move near the trade deadline, his value to another contender could get the Mets a big piece in return.

Regarding "As The Mets Turn," I like Escobar, I like Guillorme and I trust the Mets organization to do the right thing for the franchise. I also like how beefy Senga looks next to Tanaka.

I am more nervous about locking in Correa to a dumb contract than I am about letting him walk, which is my inclination. If he wants more guaranteed money -- which is only everything -- he's free to play the market. But the reality is, there's no market or he would have signed already. Who is going to give this guy a guarantee of $200 million? A perfectly healthy Swanson just signed for 7/$177. I'd do something like that with Correa. If there's another team out there willing to be on the hook for more, let them come forward.

If we sign Correa, I keep Escobar and dump Guillorme, who is overrated by fans. A black hole in the lineup.

Escobar is a much better hitter than Guillorme. But Luis is hardly a “black hole”. He’s got decent bat to ball skills and hits for a decent average. He’s not an everyday player, but he’s a great utility guy.

No reason to get rid of either unless you have a better option. Both do more for the club than Ruf or Vogelbach, and easily make the top 13 position players, adding depth all over the field.

I agree in the sense that Mets need to look at entire roster before dumping Guillorme. He's an under .700 OPS guy. No power, no speed. Mets want to upgrade offense. Having this guy in the lineup hurts. The glove is good -- it's just not *that* good. I see Escobar in his role, if Correa happens. If not, Mets have got to hope for production from Baty and Alvarez. I'm okay with that. I just can't see going length with Correa, who I love in a shorter contract.
