Can we talk about the sound of Pete’s bat crushing that ball?! That may have been the loudest crack I ever heard!

This is the first time i actaully dont feel any "doom and gloom" and i dont know why. All other years you just knew the season is over with. This time i dont think it is. You play the schedule in front you doesnt matter if they are in 1st, 2snd or last - take them one at a time and keep swinging the bats ! LETS GO METS !

Trying to see a silver lining...at least, IF all goes well, Scherzer and deGrom will have fresh arms in the second half. What really matters is how well they pitch in postseason.

I want to preface this by saying that I'm obviously not happy that Max is on the shelf. He has been very good and he is extremely enjoyable to watch him pitch for our team.

That said; the Mets have a 7 game cushion and it's only mid-May. The next stretch is admittedly extremely difficult, but even if they throw away that entire cushion while Max and Jake are out, they will be right where they started while having the toughest part of their schedule behind them. Obviously, they need at least one of those two to come back, and preferably both, in order for them to get to where we all want them to be by the end of the season, but I absolutely think they can maintain competitiveness while they recover.

And now we have a snow postponement, which means doubleheader tomorrow and therefore no starting pitcher on full rest for Wednesdays game in San Francisco. This is officially a problem. We are out of depth.

While not all doom and gloom thanks to the FAs, the depth, the quality of manager/coaches and a non-meddling out of touch Front office, The SF series and the June gauntlet (after LAD-SD-LAA on the road it's MIL then MIA/HOU home-away b2b w/ no NATS/PHIL safety net) are THE tests of the season. More than just w/l record, it will determine if this team's position player core of arbitration level players can truly compete or if we need to shelve McNeil/Alonso/Dom/Nimmo/internal catching options next offseason or at the deadline if it goes to crap again. Even if we had Max and Jake at 100% or Marte produces, Bassit keeps doing well and Carrasco is healthy - even meh production from Cahna and Escobar -those are all FAs or people that have a sustained track record of success. I look forward to the home grown Mets position players having success against playoff caliber teams, even if we don't win every series.
