Big day in Mets land today!

I attended my first Mets game since last Summer last night and had a very good angle for both of the Mets HR's. I really can't believe Alonso got that ball high enough to leave the park; it seemed it never got more than 15 feet off the ground.

Sound policy: “The team apparently doesn’t negotiate with players named Jackson...” Jackson is weak name; you will not name your son John and call him Jack or you will not simply name and call him Jack; hedging your bets with Jackson.

Well put. Disappointed they didn’t come to terms with the one from the Portland area, though. Might have been fun.

Their big move was someone called Darren Ruf that is 36 years old and another DH ? Really ? I 'll say it again.- they were never all in - They take all the luster off of a good season but telling the fan base "we are not all in" but we have 3 DHs now. Really Really bad

I just don’t understand. And it’s probably because of issues that the media is all wrong about, because their explanations make no sense. None. “Burned” by having traded a prospect who is still in A ball, because prospect “experts” say he’s gonna be great. Not wanting to “decimate” the farm, which will graduate Baty, Alvarez, Vientos, and Mauricio either to the Mets or another team or to failure within the next 12 months, at which point the farm will somehow not be decimated by the loss of these prospects?

The narrative that the Mets have decimated their farm for rentals in the past and that’s why they are what they are (a team in first place on the path to over 100 wins) is just wrong. The only prospect from the past 5 years that’s starting or starting for a team other than the Mets is Andres Gimenez. And he was the price to get Lindor, so probably on balance oh well.

Prospects schmospects.

They might prove us wrong. But the odds just went down with San Diego and Houston and the Yankees doing so much. Just so bad.

They CAN NOT sit back and let Soto go today to the Padres or Dodgers or Cardinals. If he is traded, they have to be the team.

They are in DC. Eppler needs to get in an elevator with Rizzo, press the emergency stop button, wrestle the phone out of his hands, and make the deal 🤪

It’s obvious the Mets are not all in. The reports stating they are worried about a “pete Armstrong “ ( whoever that is) trade are ridiculous / really they are worried about losing a no name minor leaguer then winning a WS? So they are going with Escobar, no catchers , bad bullpen on top of Davis and Smith ? The organizations like the Braves Astros Yankees Dodgers and to some degree the Padres are all in and one will be WS champion - Mets remain small like they always are

Agreed. Hopefully they’ll prove us wrong, but the passivity we are seeing/that’s being reported on. Wow.

So I don’t do fantasy and am out of touch with most players outside of National League, so I never heard of O’s closer, but that’s a guy I would have traded for. Now I’m afraid the Cubs will try to run up the price. Seems like we could have got him without compromising our system…

Digusting is all i can say - why the hell do we root for this godfaken team anyway ?

Agreed. I’m in a foul mood right now.

Alvarez, Baty, Vientos, Mauricio, and Ramirez better turn out to be Johnny Bench, Brooks Robinson, Edgar Martinez, Derek Jeter, and Willie Mays.

Ok, most of them becoming important players that become part of a World Series Dynasty for the next 4 years, assuming they win this year.

But wow.

No one knows if any of them inlcuding Alvarez will evere make it in the pros - yet they hold on to them - for what reason - they are a few peices away this year and they rather not go for it then do something. If im the owner with that kind of money - trade the farm and sign these big tickets guys next year - wait they were fats asleep - they are all gone now.

Agreed. Who cares about Baty. Go get Trea Turner this off season.

I don't think we can assume that the Nats were terribly interested in trading Soto in division in the first place, especially given the level of obvious interest he garnered from elsewhere. Also, we simply don't have the pitching prospects (or frankly the total overall package) to matchup with what the Padres were able to offer. We will never know what they offered, or were prepared to offer, but I don't see the package that would have flipped this from the Padres to the Mets even if the Nats were ok trading him within division.

Here's hoping they make an impactful move, in at least the pen, over the next few hours.

Steve, I’m a fellow pessimist/fatalist. But the deadline isn’t over. And I’m infinitely more concerned about the pen than lineup. I’d take two strong pen additions over one pen and one hitter. And don’t forget that this team, as is, is on pace for 100+. We took the Braves series. We swept the Yanks…we’re good!

LOL they made us that way - We've waited 34 years for a WS and they do nothing ? Then before that it was 1969 ? With most of the year them stinking and being dead last. They have no cred at all. We will wake up tomorrow with Drury thats it

It will be hard to do with no catcher, Escobar, bad bullpen and Smith and Davis
