I wonder many teams’ second best home run hitter has 15 or less homers?

My two cents: The fans suck. They "love" you when you do well, but will stick a knife in your back when you fail. That's the way it is. Players know that, or should know that. They just need to keep their private thoughts to themselves, because they can't win by criticizing the fans. Lindor talking about the boos only makes it worse. Just tune it out, say all the right things, and keep your private thoughts to yourself. Only a true fool would "love the fans." These are angry, small-minded people, screaming ugly things. They will turn on you in a heartbeat. Just win, baby. And shut up. Sidenote: Not good for Rojas, none of this is helping him. The players will be bummed when the new version of Dallas Greens arrives to take his place. They need a players-only meeting and air it all out. Again, a player can SAY that he loves the fans, but only a real idiot would love the fans. They will cut throat if they could.

My opinion on booing is simple - we pay a lot of money and make great efforts getting to and from a game. As long as one is not being personal with another fan and or player - booing is justified. A fan can not boo the people who put the product on the field who should get booed, so the players get booed. Especially those that act like thier farts don't stink and are not humble. In this particualr case no matter how it is spinned - both of these classless players were sticking it to the fans - they need to be benched ASAP !

We should be printing t-shirts that say, "I'm a Mets fan and I suck."

Forget what Báez said for one moment...

Why do you boo players? How does it help you as a fan? Why are you so angry? Why are you unable to enjoy a game without attacking players and fans alike? Why do you follow the Mets? Some self-reflection is called for here. "I paid money and I can do what I want" is the weakest of all arguments. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. It reminds me of The Former Guy so much.

It starts with booing but it rarely is kept at that level. They attack players and their families publicly and privately, online and in person. So many Mets wives and partners have gone "private" in Instagram because of the abuse.

Báez, Lindor and Pillar were not "booing" the players. They were taking that negative energy back and channeling it into something positive. One wrong word or two and people are flipping out. Báez is a fiery player. I like fiery players. You do not win championships without fiery players. (I also find it incredibly fascinating that people who have never seen the Mets win a championship cry the loudest.)

I hope Báez goes on a tear and makes everyone eat their words. I want to be around and talk to fans who do not need a diaper to get through a game.

By the way, what is the baseball world talking about today? The Mets. Even local TV news is leading with the Mets. The Yankees are playing well and truly fighting for a playoff spot. What is is everyone talking about? The Mets.

I am a Mets fan, Javy Báez thinks I suck and I couldn't be happier. Tomorrow's double dip is going to be electric. Thanks Javy!!!!!

If Javy starts writing messages in the dirt, I'll renew my Mets plan for next year. http://dickallenhof.blogspot.com/2009/03/letters-in-dirt.html

Booing may be counter-productive for the fan base but I have to disagree that it is embarrassing. Going to a baseball game in New York is expensive. For the price of two beers and a hot dog I could feed my family of four dinner. Combine that with the fact that the minimum yearly salary for a major league ballplayer is higher than most of us will ever make in a year and I think it's entirely acceptable to boo. If I buy a product that breaks right away or doesn't perform as expected then I am going to return it. Once you are in the stadium you can't leave after the first inning and get your money back so there needs to be another way to express displeasure.
