RIP Joe D. I have enjoyed reading Metsmerized over the years. He will be missed.

When all is said and done, grown men, disguised as umpires, discussed their fingers as if they were lubing up for an intimate encounter to create controversy and insert themselves in the game. Go ahead, MLB, suspend Max and keep on pretending that you're cleaning up the game. The Mets will overcome this as well.

If the NY Mets split with the SF Mets, I will be pleased for them to go 7-3 on the road trip.

I had read somewhere that the suspended player in this scenario can be replaced on the roster if he doesn’t appeal. But I guess that’s inaccurate? Didn’t seem right at the time.

My question for these umpires is that if his hand was as sticky as they claim, how come you waited two innings to eject him? Sounds like a couple of umpires on a power trip, especially since when they initially approached Scherzer about this they probably got an earful from him. The same umpire has been involved in all of these nonsensical ejections? I don’t know man……..

I don't know how the Mets get out of this one because Manfred doesn't want to be seen as undermining the umpires. The fact that Mets have to play shorthanded for 10 days makes it even worse--as if MLB is saying that the team is complicit.

Read my comment in the chat - I vehemently disagree with this comment totally biased and not seeing wrong for right. Scherzer was WRONG . There is NO conspiracy theory. Play by the rules not fandom rules cause you like the team

does anybody have any updated on Elieser Hernández as he would be the only other player on mets 40 man roster that could fill the 5th rotation spot until Butto is eligble to return? I haven't read any updates on him since he was put on IL at the end of spring training.

It’s still a guaranteed .500 west coast road trip, and likely 7-3 or 8-2, something all of us would have signed up for last week. They just keep plugging along despite adversity. Hopefully they won’t run out of steam as the season progresses.

Sounds like he should not appeal for the benefit of the team.

just looking at the schedule, it would be better if he didn't appeal since he could come back for the 5/1 game against Atlanta - the other side is that if he did appeal then he might start the suspension when Verlander is ready to come back (or come in? can you really come back if you haven't been here yet?) - i suspect he's going to appeal unless it's clear to him that there's a 0% chance he's successful

Jeff you should read Rosenthal's garbage puff piece on the ejection. it's basically a 'get it together' take...same crap he does when people he voted for awards, covered and got his bowtie tv gig as a result of, are busted for PEDs. such a hypocrite and a hack...the dude took credit for female reporting and investigative journalism on Vizquel's DV history and then STILL voted him into the HOF knowing it and the character clause AFTER the article went live...

To me the biggest concern is not the suspension, as onerous as that will be, but what kind of stuff Scherzer will have when he does return. It would be interesting to know what his spin rates were after the crackdown in 2021. Many pitchers saw a drop in spin rate, but regained it later in the season.

I guess basically the Mets are screwed here with the pitching. It would seem to me that BEFORE the freakin game the Manager ( who seems to be asleep at the wheel) would have told his pitcher(s) "Hey this ump is really bad with ANYTHING on your fingers, rosin or not he already threw two guys out." If not. then Scherzer should have been aware of this ump BEFORE the game. On top of that BOTH of these characters should have been extra careful with the depleted staff they already had. Where is the pre-game analysis ? Terrible
