I've grown weary of the bad ABs. Not loving the thoughts expressed by Dom, Conforto, Pete, etc. This idea that they haven't "gotten hot" yet. As if a great two weeks would make up for game after game after game of feeble approaches and futility. It's been hard to watch. And harder, lately, to listen to.

The ab’s have been brutal to watch; none more than Lindor bases loaded no out the other day. The only positive is Pete is hitting line drives again and not swinging at balls four inches off plate. I’m really surprised/disappointed by/with Dom. I thought he was a real deal hitter.

Some defensive comments I’d like evaluated: first, mistake allowing run after Guillorme’s throw got by Pete was Pete’s, not Luis’. As Keith noted, Luis gave him a long hop. I would have added that it should have been caught. If folks don’t agree it was a relatively easy catch for MLB player, then Pete should have come off the bag to get the ball and save the run, sacrificing the out.

Second, fault on failed run down wasn’t Guillorme’s but McCann’s. While the catcher was right to send the runner back toward third, he held the ball too long. What should have been an easy tag out at least several feet from the base turned into a close play where the runner could avoid the tag. Our fab announcers missed this, I think. Thanks!

Agree 100%. That rundown was on McCann for late throw.

But can Guillorme just step forward and rage him instead of standing there like a statue ? Or did the cheerleader lindor tell him to stay put ?

If he steps forward without ball runner goes past him…

He had the ball made no attempt to lunge or block the base. Pretended he was the Statue of Liberty

As long as Diaz is coming out of the bullpen, and the "400 million dollar cheerleader" bats 2nd - The Mets are sentenced to another year without the playoffs.

I know there’s no way he can be this bad, but there’s also no way he can be as good a player as we thought we were getting. And he doesn’t even have a good arm. Jason Bay may finally get to relax…

The arm surprised me.

I see both players as an asset that will help them get into the playoffs. On the disappointment of Lindor: I feel you. I also wish I liked him more. Seems slightly phony. But he plays great defense and is in the game. The coach on the field stuff is annoying (just ask McNeil how he really feels about it). That said: I think we have to let go of the salary. Forget the contract. He's a quality SS and an anchor for the defense now and moving forward. A good player who will be, at times, a great player. Overpaid? Surely. But that ship has sailed.

If they paid that cheerleader a dollar would be too much. His defense and base running has been awful. Diaz can’t hold A 2-2 tie nor any lead in a pressure situation. I could care less about the money it’s having a liability at the top of the lineup - it’s having a closer that closes. The ship that sailed was waiting for a real quality SS next year.
