☀️ Good Morning:
We’ve almost made it; we are one day away from Mets baseball!
Perhaps you all feel a bit like me this morning, tired of the spring storylines, ready for primetime, with stats that compile in the record books and games that count in the standings.
I always hit this point sometime around the final week of spring training. As much as I enjoy diving into the nuance of the offseason and roster construction (as everyone reading this knows I do), I know the regular season is near when I reach my breaking point for analyzing the 26th spot on the roster.
I hope everyone enjoyed John Creel’s piece from yesterday. We will try to offer unique perspectives like that throughout the season.

He has set himself up where a solid first month of the season could force the front office to rethink the role of a returning Jeff McNeil; while also setting himself up for the possibility that a cold April could loosen the last bit of confidence fans have in him ever figuring things out at the major-league level.
We have talked about Baty’s swing before. He adjusted it during the offseason, focusing, among other things, on keeping both hands on the bat during his follow through.
