Great Pod boys and I’m glad Peter suffers like me. I wanna say I disagree with 2 points. Holmes hasn’t pitched great. He’s been lucky as hell because he walks 4 guys every start but he has erased many through double plays but the HRs are coming with him after not giving up much at the beginning of the season. I’d much prefer he heads back to the pen now and does a long thing like Butto. I feel he’s tired from pitching more innings than he ever has through his career. What he’s giving us isn’t sustainable and I believe it’s going to start biting the Mets in the ass. They should grab another arm and I’m sure Quintana could be had from the Brewers as they are one of those weird teams that do addition by subtraction in a pennant race. The hitting coaches need to be fired after this season. They stunt the young guys when they come up because every one of them was tearing the cover off the ball before they got here. Yes, I know AAA isn’t the bigs but for shit sake how is it EVERY bat goes silent and they look like they’ve never been in the box before each at bat? I’m going to also say Vientos had JD last year and he followed him like a puppy dog and JD worked with him very closely during batting practice. V had a hit last night to left center. Last year everything went to right center. These coaches cannot develop or sustain young guys and I’d say fucking destroy guys who are established. I’d almost possibly say Soto might have taken too much from them earlier this season before he himself said fuck these guys I’m going back to what I do and now he’s doing what he does. Which id add is always with nobody on base as his RISP numbers are terrible too. Would somebody please get Mendy to stop fucking with the batting order? Stick Nimmo at lead off and go with Lindor,Soto,& Pete. WTF is he doing putting Marte in the lead off? After Nimmo did what he did the night before. It’s fucking maddening! Thanks for doing what you guys do. It’s very much appreciated. I love it. Let’s go TBD!!
Great podcast. I also have two things. First I don’t get the theory that bringing a prospect up for a spot start somehow ruins him or delays his development. The Mets are in dire need of a starter right now and it seems to me to be malpractice not to take the best option. What will happen to McLean’s development if the Mets told him he was coming up for one start because they need him and then will go back down? Best case scenario is he pitches great the Mets win and he is really motivated to come back up. Worst case scenario is he gives up 8 runs in 2 innings and the Mets lose. He goes back down and gets back to work. Is that going to ruin his career? Is he going to go into a fetal position? It’s ridiculous to think a bad start will somehow ruin his development.
Second this is the absolute first time I heard Peter say God Bless on the podcast ever since Blake and JB started teasing him about it.
