Good one gentlemen. I for one though have a large concern with this rotation. I can’t see how they would spend 765 million for possible the best hitter in baseball and hit the ground running with Griffin Canning or Max Kranick as back end starters. I hate the idea of pitchers “giving” 5 innings and somehow “keeping” us in games. That’s bullshit baseball. The goal should be to have 5 Aces. Why we should accept a major drop off from 1 to 5 is just stupidity. I know the game is different now and getting 5 innings from a starter is a plus so even with that thinking are we excited with the bullpen? Nunez ( who I believe is a flash in the pan and will never give what he did from last year) isn’t even pitching yet. Aside from Diaz and Stanek and Minter( who is coming off injury) and Atlanta let walk which is another bad sign for me. Who else is proven back there. Don’t even say Butto as the kid was shaky as hell in the playoffs plus needs 3 days off between appearances because he doesn’t have a rubber arm. We might hit the cover off the baseball this year and that’s great but I’d get the mindset we are going to be winning a lot of 7-8-9 run games. Which we all know the higher the score of games the more of a crapshoot it becomes. Stearns better have a plan better than what he’s showing us in spring training with this rag tag rotation. This disgusts me.
Excellent podcast today. And I for one believe Baty should get the last spot. Acuna should at least get an OPS over 700 in AAA before he plays regularly in the majors. Two weeks of good baseball last September doesn’t wipe out a pretty bad year last year. And JB, I’ve said this before. Baty does not have to pay any tax. He did not receive the SUV as compensation. It was a gift. Recipients of gifts do not pay tax. Since the gift was over $19,000 Soto has to report the gift on his tax return but he doesn’t pay tax either until he hits $13.99 million in gifts over his lifetime. The gift tax is purely for people giving away huge sums for inheritance.
Today Peter said “guess what “ five times. No “god bless”. Blake said “god bless” twice but I think that was teasing Peter.
Good podcast as per usual. Thought Black and Peter were going to come to blows LOL. I am not going to be Switzerland like JB on Baty. IMO he has had his chances time to trade him. Dont totaly agree wait to see if there is a injury or drive up his maret in AAA. I would do it before the season starts.
