The barehand throw by Taylor nailing Boehm at second was the turning point in the game. Boehm has been in deep slump and it has been made worse by two plays by the Mets in this series and thank God because if he gets hot he would be a big problem and make that line up even longer. Does anyone need another reason to sign Manaea to a longer deal? 4 years even? Listen, I’m all for guys getting their “bag” so I’m sure there are limits but he’s gotta give us the home team discount for getting him right. Right? His performance was gigantic though and that bullpen is as rested as it’s been since before the first road trip out west. How much does that three batter rule make us all sweat right now? Maton looked like he would allow them to get hope back. Luckily, Stanek came in a shut that door. This team is rolling right now and the faces of those Phillies in the dugout sure looked to defeated to me. Like, no matter what they do the Mets have an answer. I have good feelings today but I know that no lead is safe in this series. We were up by 6 and I still didn’t feel great. A on the mound tonite. He’s a gamer and the pen is fresh. Citi will be rocking for sure. Uncle Steve has got to be loving this and hopefully he becomes addicted to it. I’d like to add does anyone think Soto has an eye over here? Seeing Judge do what he always does in the playoffs and the excitement happening in Queens? Hal has already stated he wants to trim payroll. The amount coming off our books is huge to the point we can sign plenty and still be less than right now. It’s good to be a Mets fan right now. FINALLY.

I'm going to refrain from the winter conversation for now, and stay locked into the present moment. Besides to say: Go ahead, let's extend Vientos this winter. We have all the leverage and he has every motivation.

Yes on Boehm. He makes that lineup so much fiercer. He'd been injured, then slumping, and it looks like he's ready to break out of it.

The pen is finally where we need it to be. Rested and ready.

My one concern is that I don't want to see Mendoza ask Diaz to do too much. No up and downs. No 35-40 pitches on fumes. If we need him to close out the 9th, that's great. Go get those three outs. While he's a gamer and willing to take the ball, I don't want to ask too much.

Love the Peterson strategy, and kudos to him for embracing whatever role comes his way.

And a quibble: It's always good to be a Mets fan. I wouldn't know any other way.

I'm still taking the strategy of expecting the Mets to lose & then immensely enjoying the resulting win. Hey, it worked last night, didn't it? I have to say, though, that it is extremely hard right now to actually expect the Mets to lose. The Mets have momentum right now but then again, momentum is only as good as today's starting pitcher. Here's hoping that Q can give us a strong push of momentum today! Excited for but just as nervous about tonight's game. Really hope the Mets can close out the series tonight instead of having to go back to Philadelphia! #LGM

Kudos to you JB for your prescient comments on how this game brought many divergent ideologies together for a heartfelt, unified cause -- our baseball team. With all that's going on around us with horrific world events, natural disasters, and man made ones preparing for the election, our Mets fandom has helped us focus on the pleasures of our favorite team. Let's keep the good vibes going. LGM!

Finally. It’s not red states and blue states. It’s the United Sta…. Wait. What’s that? It’s orange and blue states vs cherry red states? Got it. We finally can agree on something. A new enemy to hate. 😉

Well, this is a least a more innocuous form of tribalism. God bless AMetsica. (Death to the Phillies) 🤪

Listened to the game on a plane and in my car and then caught up on the videos last night and this morning. Citi was out of control. Lock it down today; no silly games and no trips back to Philadelphia.

Howie is awesome; calls such a great game.

Manaea was the man. That play by Taylor was absurd all around. Very happy that Pete is, at a minimum, getting these moments. It is incredible how much that HR in Milwaukee has changed so much about so many things.

Just watched video highlights. (Sticking more to Howie both out of convenience and because he’s awesome and baseball in radio is awesome and national tv broadcasts just suck).

That play by Vientos! Wowsa. He has a strong arm and is as accurate with it as any Mets third baseman I can recall. I don’t get the narrative that he can’t play third. He’s solid at a young age, and his experience will lead to steady improvement for the next 5-6 years before there should be any talk of moving him off third.

yeah, i would keep him at third - even if he doesn't improve from where he is now, he's not so bad that we need to move him IMO - having his bat at 3B is very useful - using Bref - he was -0.7 in dWAR last year in 65 games and a -0.2 dWAR in 111 games this year; that's a massive improvement (all caveats about def metrics, etc. but I think that meets the eye test too)

agree about Howie; he was great to listen to yesterday - that play did look better on video than i thought while listening (although Keith did suggest it was a Machado like play which it definitely was)
