Agreed! I'm still waiting for the first time Mushnick says something positive about anybody or anything. His stuff is petty and unenlightening.

He used to occasionally bestow compliments in the 20th century, particularly during the Mark Messier era.

I like GKR and don’t like Mushnick but I think he has a point here. The constant attempts at humor are a bit exhausting on the TV side and Gary is a great broadcaster but not a funny guy. I often find myself turning on the radio bc I prefer Howie and the vibes in that booth.

I’m getting sick of the word “Vibes”. Sorry Kyle. It’s been building for a while now, and you got caught in my crosshairs. It’s not you 😜

Let's not amplify literally anything Phil Mushnick has to say. "Curmudgeon" is too generous a description. His column is a toxic Superfund site of negativity, and he badly needs to be put out to pasture. Please.

Agreed. I try to share things even if I don’t agree with them so there’s a wide range of voices in the link section. But I understand your point

Like Mushnick, I was too busy listening to myself speak this morning to see you said the same thing. Forced retirement. Thank you for your service, Phil. Here’s a gold watch.

Regarding Mushnick. What a grump. He’s worse than Me (and Steve). How he hasn’t been put out to pasture by now us one of the bigger mysteries in NY sports journalism. He must have dirt on Rupert Murdoch. GKR are too funny. That’s his problem. Too much joy in that booth. What a jerk.

Regarding our Corporate (overlord) sponsors. Stretch the pinstripes over the patch, for gods sake. And the hospital is no doubt throwing in free MRI for the fatigued senior citizen Met pitchers.

Regarding the “slow adjustment” story. Perhaps it’s a thing. Perhaps not. But the anonymous sources issue in Mets reporting had gotten absolutely absurd. “An NL scout” (on condition of anonymity) has an opinion that the older pitchers, such as the Mets’) will have this difficulty with conditioning and fatigue. Fine. But why is this inside protected source stuff? Come clean deep throat. Our reporters are lame ass. We get some decent stuff from Britton and Sammon. The rest is opinion and innuendo, Twitter brand building, hearsay and planted PR.

Regarding the farm: Mauricio’s OBP is over .400 this season, where the big warning sign in previous years was an OBP hovering closer to .300, and often below. The guy hadn’t met a pitch he didn’t want to swing at. Is something clicking? He’s still hitting homers. So we have a 21 year old Shortstop at AAA who’s putting up tremendous numbers. And all the while, his stock (value) is at an all time low as far as prospect reports. Such a strange thing.

Reports of Vientos hitting balls hard have become endemic this week, but are nothing new. The question is a he still striking out over 1/3 of his plate appearances. Another exceedingly young prospect with some eye popping abilities and accomplishments.

Baty did not play yesterday. It was rumored he would play. Not sure what’s going on there. I’m concerned.

Regarding Zach Britton: what the hell? if you think he’s still good, sign him. If you don’t think so, move on. You’re haggling on terms?

Something seems right or hopeful about Megill on the mound for the home opener. Unlike more accomplished starters who have gone down over the years and were widely assumed to be returning to their star form when they get back ( not just a 2010-11 Johan Santana, a 2013-14 Matt Harvey, a 2017 Syndergaard, a 2020-1 Syndergaard, a 2021 and 2022 deGrom, young Mr Megill’s start to 2022 seems like it counts for nothing, and his injury and inauspicious return at the end of last season are now defining him as a potential bottom of the rotation or reliever going forward. But what if? What if?

Key point regarding pitching. I have no doubt that there is something to this and that pitchers will catch up. They always do no matter what MLB throws at them. Once pitchers get the rhythm and are stretched out in the warmer weather, we are going to see hitters looking silly again. Patience...

SLOW ADJUSTMENT: Something we have wondered in the chat, a National League scout thinks veteran pitchers may be impacted most by the pitch clock. “Since their pitching is old, the pitch clock will affect them greatly,” one NL scout told the NY Post. “Not only do they have to pitch quickly, but between-inning breaks are shorter, and when the offense is not producing, they get even shorter times to rest.”
