That Rey Ordonez throw reminds me of that brief moment in time when we debated with Yankees fans who had the better SS.

Wake me up when deGrom is on the mound. I am not going to obsess over him this season. Now I have a technical question about the Audacy and SNY apps. Will I be able to listen to both via my iPhone when I attend games at Citi Field? I have always had difficulty getting the WFAN or 880 am on my phone when I'm there. Please someone let me know.

Cano looks pretty smooth in the field. Probably very limited range but still looks smooth

Trigger warning. Rant to follow.

Last year we were told over and over not to jump to conclusions about DeGrom. Then medical tests failed to reach any conclusions. So the entire season became a waiting game. Rather than “taking any chances” or “out of an abundance of caution” his starts were cut short, then skipped, then he was put on the IL. Finally, the murkiest diagnosis of “inflammation” and later a public dispute about whether there was a tear or not.

I can’t go through this again.

Today’s MRI will either show something that requires an intervention, surgical or non surgical, or it will show nothing, an “all clean” and we will dial him back to rest and “building up”. Remember, he was only planned for 5 innings on opening day before all of this. Now can we hope for 3? Worse, we go back to sitting on the edges of our chairs waiting for the next non specific complaint of discomfort and resetting of the rehab schedule.

I’ve been an obsessive Met fan for over 40 years. I’ve never seen anything like this.

I don’t care whether DeGrom gets “paid like he deserves” or makes the Hall of Fame. We are one week from opening day, a time of abundant optimism, a time when all is supposed to be good. After this frustrating labor dispute took all of that wind out of the sails. And literally minutes after Edwin Diaz showed us he’s in mid season form.

I’m so sick and tired of the DeGrom worship. Even before all this injury stuff started the team used to lose half his starts anyway. He never engendered to confidence that we will win the game like I used to have when Gooden took the mound in ‘84 or ‘85. Or Ojeda in ‘86. Or Cone in ‘88. Or Dickey in ‘12 or Harvey the following year.

Sorry folks. First rule of being the GOAT is to show up for work and take the load off of your teammates and fans.

Ok, done. Feel free to talk me down, yell at me, or ignore. All ideas are good ideas.

deGrom officially scratched from his start today. Felix Peña to go in his place. MRI forthcoming.

Wow, the Mets finally have free in-market internet streaming of their radio broadcast? Ridiculous that it took this long. Makes the value of that free MLB.TV from T-Mobile drop a bit, but whatever. Yes I am deliberately ignoring the deGrom news. :(
