Really enjoyed that game even if I'm feeling it this morning.

Gardner is such a clown; he was also 2 weeks behind on the joke.

I’m feeling it too. It ended late. On point about Gardner and I loved every bit of the Francisco Lindor show last night. Really enjoyed Lindor and Báez yapping at the entire Yankees bench. A lot of fun.

Amazing, 3 games back on the WC. The master plan of MLB working wonders: Even a .500 team is still in it until the bitter end. You can play mediocre baseball for 5 months, watch a few teams decide to tank, and if you can play well for 3 weeks you make the WC game. The worst thing is it can lead to delusional thinking. Mets need to build a 95-win team and this isn't that.

The first part - MLB’s Master Plan of Mediocrity - is so true. I have accepted it at this point but was very bitter, especially after the Nationals 2019 championship. The second part - delusional thinking - is also very true and Steve Cohen needs to hire someone who can evaluate talent and form a winning team. Not easy but it will be fun watching.

I looked it up. Since 1994 and the introduction of the WC, 5 NL wild cards teams won the WS and 4 more went to the WS and lost. The expanded playoffs really are a crap shoot.

And if we had Jake . . . this team had as good a shot as anybody.

maybe a miracle happens and we get Jake back... The expanded playoffs are a real crapshoot and I'm not personally a fan of them but it is what it is. I agree that even if they finish 15-3 or 14-4 and sneak in, they can't assume that it means they are good to go and hope for magical bounce back years from everyone (although I do think Lindor is likely to get back to being a 5-6 WAR player, he was going to be a 4 WAR player w/o the injury and that's with hitting .160 for 5 weeks).

Plenty of time for the offseason; here's hoping they can go 5-1 this week and keep it interesting.
