First, I have to give props to you Jeffrey. Early on in the chat you put the good vibes out there that Pete would do exactly what he did. If this somehow becomes a trend I’m gonna say you’ve been outed as some kind of time traveler or alien. I have been enjoying the chat during the games but I’d enjoy it more if us Mets fans would be more positive instead of haters at the drop of a hat. What we witnessed last night was a first in baseball history and the top one or two HR’s in franchise history. It’s even more fitting that Lindor AND Nimmo both made the plays before that to make it possible. Having a night to sleep on it I can’t fault Mendy for any of the moves he made. Butto was roughed up but who else do you want bridging the gap to Diaz? Maton? Young? Otto? He’s been a stud all year long. They just got two swings on him. Happily we will forget about what happened to him and celebrate forever what Pete did getting us to the division series. Pete getting this done was epic. Hopefully this is the monkey off his season long back that allows him to have that extra second again. We all know Pete can carry us on his back and if this is what breaks him out look out baseball. What a night from Q. He shut down the Brewers and kept them off balance all night. He is a big time pitcher. Worth another contract in my opinion. We are playing with house money now. Everything since beating Atlanta has been gravy but does anyone want this to end? I love this team. They pull for each other and pick each other up. They care about us fans and right now are giving us an October to remember. Wow. OMG right? Let’s go Mets!

Thanks, James! As bad as it has been for Alonso, he's a power hitter, sooner or later he was going to hit one out, so why not last night? I feel like the tenor of the chat is actually starting to turn a bit. After this past week, how could you not be optimistic? Thanks for being a part of this amazing community of fans.

A moment in Mets histiry that will never be forgotten. At my age i have seen them all. For Pete Alonzo to execute this moment makes it pretty special. His teammates and manager all had his back (based on post game interviews) even though a huge portion of the fanbase didn't. Good for Pete and hope he is with the Mets a long time ! Tip of the antlers goes to Wink for basically saying F. U. to the crowd after his slide home. Another one goes to Q - who pitched lights out. Of course Lindor gets one just for him being him ! LETS GO METS !!!

What a great Mets Fix this morning! A great recap of last night's game along with great commentary on the whys & hows of how it all happened like it did! The Mets have gone further than any of us could have expected and that still could have been said if the Brewers had won last night. They didn't & the Mets did! So, as Howie said last night, this fairy tale season continues and we are all here to enjoy the ride! #LGM

I'm pretty sure that for any Mets fan that's 43 years old or younger we just saw the best singular moment in our Mets history. The Mets didn't really have any MLB pantheon level HR's (Piazza's post-9/11 is in a separate category), but we do now. That was an all timer.

Very happy for Pete - been a rough season in the clutch dept. We have been waiting for this type of moment all season; he left it late but in the end... worth the wait.

I'd love to bottle up that emotion and be able to bring it out as needed. Whenever we ask why we stick with Team X through Losing Season Y and heartbreak Z... that's exactly why. Because you simply cannot get those types of emotions in those types of moments anywhere else.

And now, finally... a day off - what a week!

Great stuff as usual with newsletter and podcast I said in chat but thanks for all great coverage last two years I been subscribing to it. It’s hard to find people to discuss baseball with who aren’t your casual fan and this is a great space for it. LFGM

Note that both games the Mets won might have had a different outcome if Peralta had not been lifted. He threw only 68 pitches in his start and had settled down. I can’t fault the manager for going to his closer yesterday, but as it turned out I doubt that Peralta would have given up four runs.

He did it. He finally did it. Nuff said!

Pete’s explanation of the Playoff Pumpkin: “it’s a pumpkin”.

hahaha - he's such a goober; going through his mid-day trip to the pumpkin patch w/ his wife as if it was any of us on a Saturday in October w/ our family - all while drenched in Korbel, 30 minutes after the biggest moment of his career

At least Korbel is Champagne so I appreciated that. A definite step up from Prosecco.

The Jomboy video is great. Who was the one who whispered to Pete? Is he a bench coach?

And I think it’s interesting, but I don’t know. I couldn’t tell the difference and the batters were looking at even less than we were, with all kinds of other things to think about. The guy only throws 2 things. Fastball and changeup. So without the “tipping” you have a 50/50 chance of guessing. You still have to hit it, which only happened successfully on 3 out of his 34 pitches. Nimmo’s ground ball hit, Pete’s HR, Marte’s ground ball hit. Then there were the ground out by OMG and the fly out by TT. There were also some foul balls.

And how did they figure it out in time to tell Pete anyway? It would have had to be Vientos figuring it out during his strikeout and putting it all together during Nimmo’s AB and telling the guy who told Pete.

Seems like a stretch.

I think that's Jeremy Barnes, assistant batting coach.

No, I know what Mendy looks like. Go to 3:54 and tell me who is talking to Pete? I took a screen shot but I don't know if I can post it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7z8aaZ7gIk

Dear Pete, I’m sorry! Wowowow. I’m camping and ended up with a bunch of random fans listening to the whole game together. Howie was amazing. What a game.
