We are lucky to have Lindor. Just an excellent all around player, and leader. To think he played hurt the entire year and still put up a 30/30 season is remarkable.

And when the season was in the Dumpster, he still played and contributed everyday.

Say what you will about Billy Eppler, he did a first-rate job with those July trades. A pleasure to read about Jeremy Rodriguez (Pham) and, in other places, Vargas (Robertson), along with the more hyped returns of Acuna, Gilbert, and Clifton. We don't know how any of these guys will turn out -- no one knows -- but I agree with the process that says you stockpile as much talent as possible and hope that a few will make an impact, for surely some will disappoint. Each one of those trades was handled professionally with solid returns.

It was a great deadline and I credit Steve Cohen for reversing course like no other owner we have ever seen. Of course, Eppler did execute but I do give Cohen high marks. So many real prospects from one deadline. I mean, our farm system has improved by leaps and bounds. It is incredible this year compared to last.

💯 we are lucky to have Lindor who leadership is by example and he works with young players a lot. For him to play entire season with elbow injury is amazing. Let’s not forget about Calvin Ziegler if he can bounce back from this injuries last season.

The rotation situation makes signing Brandon Woodruff to a 2 year deal intriguing and a good idea

I think we're going to have trade chips by July, and certainly come next winter. New management was not ready to give up on guys they barely knew, based on evaluations by guys they didn't trust. I believe that the internal assessments will be much more solid -- and possibly as soon as 6-7 weeks from now.

I think Mets fans have such high expectations and we often fail to recognize a superstar when we see one. Francisco Lindor is that player. Let’s not “Carlos Beltran” him. I think this is the year Lindor puts it all together. He’s healthy and ready to lead. I’m very excited to watch him this season.

Regarding that Baseball Perspectives article by Justin Klugh: Yeah, and if pigs could fly!

It's Baseball PROSPECTUS, probably the leading analytical website for the past 25 years or so. I've been buying their annual books since around 1998. I'm sure you know it, right? Quite a few teams have hired from their pool of writers and awarded them top management jobs.

And then there's Nate Silver, of course.

The quote again:

“Outside of their stars like Alonso, Lindor, Nimmo, and Díaz, the Mets have a lot to fill in around the edges, and will be using playing time in the spring and summer to answer big questions like, “What is this?” and “Who is that?” But they’re not so far gone to count them all the way out. This isn’t a teardown/rebuild, it’s a brief restock/restructuring. You never know how far an intense hiccup of success in midsummer can send you hurtling toward a wild card spot.”

What is so outrageous about that? And why on earth are you so angry on a daily basis about this? Forgive me -- you won't like this -- but you sound childish and uninteresting.

The Mets have the highest payroll in baseball and you are furious that they aren't spending more, more, more. News item: Cohen tried to sign Yamamoto. But he's not going to spend another $100 million this year on mediocre guys.

Cohen paid $101 million in TAX last year.

Get. Over. It.

No, the organization does not share Kevan Scott's vision for how they should handle the business.

It is possible -- let this sink in -- that they are Cohen and Stearns and Co. are not entirely wrong. It is possible that you are not entirely right. Why be so relentlessly negative? What's the point? Is this giving you pleasure?

I mean, I respect your take on players, your understanding of the game. But mostly all you say on a daily basis is, "We're not winning the World Series in 2024 -- WAAAHHHH!"

I'm sorry, all. I don't mean to be combative. It's important for us to be respectful and open-minded. But there has to be room for disagreement. The daily relentless complaining just jangles my nerves.

One last comment on this: If Cohen went out and signed Montgomery to a 5-year deal, I'd be like: Good! He's a good pitcher. This makes the Mets better.

But that's not where they are at right now. They are pivoting and trying to get the financial house in order. They are trying to build it a different way than the over-priced marketplace. The plan is more long-range.

There are many ways to skin a cat.
