I'm far less worried about losing Lindor -- who I think they can replace with in-house options, no problem -- than about pitching. They need to add this year's Addison Reed to the pen, and hopefully a 5th starter who is better than Eickoff. I do not trade away one of the 5-6 legit prospects the Mets have for a rental. Bryant makes no sense. Don't want to trade Ginn, period. And think flipping Mauricio at this point would be a panic move. Fingers crossed. Loved your take on first place. Incremental upgrades to the pitching staff and I'm good.
Thanks for reading. And I’m with you, Jimmy. Hold on to those prospects and fill in gaps with less expensive add-ons, hope people get healthy, and go from there.
I like your take on the trade deadline. We are not just "one player away." Evaluate what we have, where we want to go, and who is expendable, if any. We're still under construction. There is no need to trade prospects. Who gets the credit for finding Loup? Sandy or the disgraced GM?
Thanks. Wonder if anyone else was bothered by Pete’s reaction to derby win. I love his enthusiasm, but calling himself the best power hitter on the planet was off-putting. He wasn’t good enough in the first half to even make the all star team ( only those selected should be able to join the derby, I think.) Hell, another player had twice as many home runs…and he’s a PITCHER!
Great players show us rather than tell us. Pete’s childlike energy and enthusiasm are great, but a friend should tell him it looks bad to put himself in Cooperstown after one phenomenal season. Confidence yes…arrogance no, I think.
I really thought Pete was just going along with the script. MLB wanted a big show and Pete gave it to them. Why not create interest for next year and the possible "three peat?" There's money to be made from Pete making a declaration like that. I do not think Pete is arrogant - he is being used (voluntarily) to sell the game to consumers. It never occurred to me that he was proclaiming himself an all-star or HoF player. It's all about the Benjamins.
That's never going to happen. Pete is a valuable player and if he can come close to his 2019 numbers, a very valuable player. He's working for peanuts right now. And he's popular. I have zero interest in Bryant.

I had the same reaction

Pete's a complete & total dope. It takes all kinds to make a team and that's the way he is.
coundt agree more
The Mets will have a decision to make once he starts to get paid. For now, the price is right. He has time to make his case.
I told JB lasty night - Trade him now for a stud picther, some grade A prospects. Move Dom to 1B and get Bryant to play LF -

doesnt matter if it is Bryant - anyone - but have to disagree - was at Citi and maybe 50% of the crowd likes him. Not that popular and hes a idiot !
