Yuck
Morning Dose: Tuesday, June 16
☀️ Good Morning:
How do you go from the euphoria surrounding the Knicks to watching these Mets?
We couldn’t even make it to the game before the bad news started to spill on Monday: Christian Scott on the IL with a hip injury.
And we certainly didn’t make it long in front of our televisions — if we even got to them — before the score was lopsided.
Last place. 12–0. Cincinnati. Yeah, that’s gross.
It feels too depressing to write about the current state of the team this morning, so I’m going to focus on a glimmer of hope: the resurgence of Bo Bichette.
📉 DEEP DIVE
HAS THE REAL BO ARRIVED?
Bo knows how to hit, and he is hitting again.
After a dreadful start, we are finally starting to see the player we thought the Mets were signing to salvage the offseason. With three more knocks on Monday, Bichette is hitting .322 over his last 15 games.
🤨 What changed? Why is he hitting now?
Bo Bichette didn’t forget how to hit; his slow start can mostly be explained by a flatter swing, pressing too much and falling on bad luck.
❶ Bad luck
A glance at Bichette’s 2026 numbers makes him look like a hitter in decline. But the underlying contact tells a completely different story.
