Tuck and Run
Morning Dose: Wednesday, January 7
☀️ Good Morning:
I am doing what every sane person does in January, shunning the idea of a trip to warmer temperatures by driving through the snow and ice to see hockey in Montreal. It’s an annual tradition with my dad and daughter. We will be up there for the next few days. Which is why I’m sure the Mets will finally make some noise this week 😉.
Therefore, I don’t have a very long newsletter for you today.
The only “newsworthy” item since we last spoke is this report from former Mets GM Jim Duquette:
I expect the Mets to remain tied to the biggest free agents as their representatives desperately try to maintain a market for them. I think Kyle Tucker, in particular, is realizing the demand is not what he had hoped.
That’s not to say the Amazins won’t end up swooping in and signing Tucker on a short-term, high-AAV, opt-out friendly deal, but I don’t necessarily take this most recent report as a stronger sign of that possibility.
