Hitless in Seattle
Morning Dose: Tuesday, June 2
☀️ Good Morning:
If you tried to guess if the Mets won last night by asking a series of questions, it would probably go something like this:
Did they hit any home runs?
- Yes, they actually hit two!
Did Sean Manaea pitch well?
- Yes, he looked as good as he has looked in a long time.
Did they play good defense?
- Yes, the psychopaths keep making plays, as does Baty!
Did the bullpen do its job?
- Yes, Luke Weaver got four outs. Devin Williams looked good.
🙈 WAIT! The question I should have started with:
Did they score more than two runs?
- No.
Ok, they lost.
🔻 The Mets continued their power surge, but those were the only two hits they could muster while striking out 12 times over 10 innings in a 3–2 loss.
⇢ EXTRAS: It was the club’s major-league leading 12th extra inning game. It’s one of the few situations where they’ve played relatively well this season, but couldn’t bring home the ghost runner in Seattle.
The winning streak is over.
🗓️ UP NEXT: Carlos Mendoza will likely use another opener and have Jonah Tong take the majority of innings on Tuesday, while the M’s will throw right-hander Logan Gilbert (3–4, 3.69).

FOREVER YOUNG?
In a perfect world, we would be writing about Jorge Polanco continuing his All-Star season by burning his former team. Instead, we are left wondering if Jared Young is somehow the answer we’ve been searching for to replace Mark Vientos.
